Screen Printing for Custom Printed Tshirts
When most people hear it, the words "screenprinting" or "silk print" automatically think of printing on a boat but screen printing may involve the use of materials ranging from metal to plastic. Screen printing is best suited for clear, bold graphics. The printing process is especially suitable for flat or relative surfaces. This process involves a screen or a fine string that is stretched and closed by the surrounding frame. If there are places you do not want to be printed, they are hidden on the print screen. To create a print screen the screen will be placed over what you want to print with a thick paint blue. To press the ink on the screen you will use a squeegee. A strong rubber band is wrapped in a plastic or wooden handle. It is used to draw pain on the screen to press the ink on the screen.
In hidden areas the ink is barred from passing but
unmarked areas will allow the link to be written. Once this is done, the object
is inserted into the conveyor belt through the heating tunnel. This is called a
treatment process to ensure that the ink dries quickly so that the material can
be applied or glued. If the ink is properly treated, they will remain, or under
extreme conditions, on a printed substrate. If there are many desirable colors
in the final design then the process will be repeated with various screens. For
example, if the design requires three colors it will require three different
screens.
To ensure that the colors are registered or that they fit
well with each other, screens are usually placed on a rotating machine. Some
screen printers have fully automatic printing presses. In these cases, they do
not require manual labor other than stopping equipment and then loading and
unloading equipment.
The screen can be hidden in many different ways. Applying masking fluid directly to the screen is the most straightforward way. This method is for printing one or two simple drawings. With very complex printing it does not work. Screen printers will often use photosensitive emulsions for multicolored functions. The first step is to build a design on a clear sheet of plastic file. Next, oversensitiveness is applied throughout the screen. Once dry, the film will be placed on the screen and exposed to bright light. After some time, the screen printer will wash the open areas on the screen with water. The screen is now ready to print. If you print in black, a white base coat will be used first.
